Disturbing irony

WASHINGTON – Just a quick note: Does college football have no sense of irony? Because it seems to have gone almost completely without comment that Louisiana State University's football team – a squad seriously affected by Katrina not too long ago – is ending its season by playing in the Peach Bowl against the Miami Hurricanes.

This ranks up there with the CNN executive who, when describing successful coverage of the Asian tsunami a year ago, said that the network was "able to flood the zone immediately."
