'Give me your tired, your poor, your lunacy...'
WASHINGTON – You have to love New York politics. This is a definitively blue state with a Republican governor who stumped for George Bush and a string of Republican mayors in New York City. This is a state that has warmly embraced one of the most blatant carpetbaggers of the modern era as its junior senator and a radical leftist seemingly devoid of common sense as its senior senator.
And now this is a state that may be asked to pick between Elliot Spitzer, the hyper-active Attorney General on a continuous witch hunt and, well, The Donald.
United Press International is reporting that Donald Trump is contemplating a run for the governorship. And this news comes as the leading Democratic candidate, Mr. Spitzer, is being publicly accused of threatening someone who dared criticize him in public.
All of this comes as the Republican set to challenge Hillary Clinton in 2006, Jeanine Pirro, has dropped out of the race, leaving the controversial Machiavellian senator likely without serious opposition.
By comparison, the saga of Doyle, Lautenschlager and Green is actually pretty simple.
