Time for more egg nog
Sticking with the Hollywood theme of the day, and revisiting a more popular post from a few days ago, this seems like an opportune occasion to offer up a list of the 10 greatest holiday films of all time, to compliment my musical list.
No real rules here – cinema is barely a century old, so constraints seem unnecessary – I'm even including one made-for-TV entry on the list. However, if you notice that the more modern movies aren't ranked as highly as some of the oldies, that is because, in making this list, I have had an epiphany of sorts: there hasn't been a truly great holiday flick in decades. I don't mean to be nostalgic for a time I didn't even live in, but, seriously, how are we supposed to compare Chris Columbus to Frank Capra?
So, without any further ado, the top ten holiday films of all time:
10. Scrooged
9. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
8. The Nightmare Before Christmas
7. Trapped in Paradise
6. Home Alone
5. Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas
4. A Christmas Carrol
3. A Charlie Brown Christmas
2. Miracle on 34th Street
1. It's a Wonderful Life

Not a bad list, but somewhere on there you need A Christmas Story. Ralphy, the BB Gun, 1950s...what could be better? For the last 5 years or so, there has been a 24 hour marathon on TNT, I usually get 4 or 5 hours in. I think you and your readers would enjoy it.
